I have, thanks though, this was actually slightly loose but it didn't make a difference.
The sound I'm getting really is a squeaking, not a rattle or knock.
It literally sounds like an old mattress with the springs gone

Still can't locate this god damn squeek! I've tightened the nut behind the side repeater, removed the splashield in the wheelarch and checked all in there, sprayed all bushes etc underneath with wd40, removed glovebox and checked all in there, checked battery and airbox assembly - everything on that side of the engine bay.
Anybody else had any experience of an sqeeks in this area that they've managed to cure, it really is ruining it for me every time I drive the car now

I had problems with the trim around the base of the A pillar, I'm sure there is a tech Bullitin for it. It's two bits of trim that rub toghether when expending/contracting due to temperature. My dealer fixed mine in minutes by sticking a screw driver in and making a bigger gap, crude, but after spending a year listening to it I was glad of any fix.

I'm pretty sure it's that.

sure it's not the spring or strut? Not LR specific but it is very common and just needs a spring c/o.

Right guys, I looked up the info provided on the inner sill sections rubbing (thanks for that) however I did the fix with the screwdriver and it's not that either!
It's going to have to go back into garage and up in the air for another check over.
It is not doing it when I bounce it up and down, but more when steering is rocked from side to side, even when crawling along at walking pace.
I am really stumped with it!

I had a service at the weekend at a dealer and asked them about the squeaking ( same as yours ).

They checked it over and replaced the front anti-roll bars.

Mine usually becomes noisy when the temperature is low but it was 1 degree on yesterday and the squeak didnt appear.

Fingers crossed that it has fixed mine.

Maybe worth checking those out to fix yours.

Thanks, that may be worth a look, I've been trawling the net looking into this and one thing that does keep coming up is suspension top mountings, apparently a metal and rubber mounting plate that sits in between the strut and the suspension mounting point on the body.
This does sound like it could be the cause of mine, as after many miles of listening to it with the girlfriend driving, I'm convinced the noise is higher up, so it could well be that.
Anybody else had these changed for any reason?

Not on the landy, but I changed this on one of my other cars last week. Took the mounting cap out and found most of the bearings had emigrated somewhere ... had 5 left of 20 or so. Didn't get a squeak from it though, but for that the replacement part was about 8 quid so you're not really out of pocket even if that's not the problem.

If you drop the strut and spring out then you can have a look and it won't have cost you anything

Had the car looked at by the garage this afternoon and it seems to be the front upper subframe mounts / bushes. When we were rocking the wheel to make the noise it could clearly be heard right up the front almost behind the headlight washer in the bumper, which apparently is where the mount is behind it. They're ordering in these bushes and fitting on Tuesday so hopefully this will be solved for good!
