I think its a nice car and the Passat has a feel of quality about it, if a little dull. Too much chrome around the outside for my liking but the blue paintwork is good.

Another vote for the colour choice! I must confess that I do find VW's bland though. I had a golf mk V a few years ago. The only thing I really liked about it after the new car novelty wore off was the blue back light to the dials. I flogged it after 12 months. If your expectations are nothing more than it being a relatively economical motorway mile muncher I'm sure you will be pleased.

My thoughts about older VW's match your thoughts. I nearly dismissed the new Passat as well, but the all new Passat has a lot more character than the old one. It's actually more fun to drive than the old one, and is more interesting to drive.

My life before Land Rover was VW top cars, I think they have lost the plot because there new cars you have to pay extra for LED day time running lights, also Audi and even Land Rover are penny pinching. Buy an Evoque base model for 30k and they use a .50p buld for the DRL  2013 hse auto, black, almond leather, exnon lights, factory privacy glass, exhaust finisher, rear boot spoiler, mud flaps. Body door side moulding and steps.
