Yeah that's my restoration project. My partner thinks it's too big and hates driving it, so that's how we ended up with a Freelander too |

OK, since it was a decent day, I gave myself the afternoon off and decided to start fitting my Spot Lights.
I had decided I was going to mount them on the narrow flat section of the bumper just under the grill. I could then insert a spanner with my skinny hands in the narrow gap [above the number plate] and tighten up. So I made up metal plates to bolt on from behind, marked the spot, then drilled the bumper. But ...... DISASTER, it's double skinned !!! ........ yes, I know that now !!! That meant my central prealigned hole wasn't aligned correctly underneath, which resulted in my brackets not seating! There's not even enough space to tighten the washers & nut up [even without brackets] !!
So, I've chopped off more of the grill and tomorrow I'm going to make other brackets and bolt them onto the bottom shell of the grill. Again, it's double skinned bit I'll bolt through where the skins meet, then use coach bolts where the skin separates. Well I've b*ggered it up so far, so a bit more wont hurt ![]() Watch this space for tomorrows installment. ![]() |

Credit where its due, that's the most unique and toughest looking Freelie I've seen. Particularly liking the subtle orange section in the wheels.
