Engine noise when cold

I may be imaging it but after 12,000 + miles my Freelander HSE (190 BHP engine) seems to sound noisier from cold start up this winter. It does however get quieter after 10 miles or so. I'm sure it wasn't as obvious last winter. Has anybody else experienced this? Would filling up with diesel from Tesco make this difference?

Would be interested to hear from anybody experiencing the same.

Cheers.

Cheers. I'll try Shell nitro at my next fill up to see if that helps.

I also read somewhere benefits of dosing tank with very small measures of 2 stroke oil but I must say I'm a bit apprehensive of doing that while still under warranty. Has anybody had experience of this?

It's the topic of what I believe is the longest thread on the site:

I'm not a believer myself, but have a read and make your own mind up.

Considerable knowledge within the articles posted and I guess there is good evidence to use it. But I'm risk averse during the warranty period. Will experiment though at the end of the year when my LR warranty runs out.
