Thanks
Just booked in at team valley - it will be a very early start for the drive up and a tank of diesel but still better value than the main dealers in the locality and a day out

Also arranged to have some roof bars fitted whilst up there

Good luck and have a nice day! One thing to watch (and very minor and a bit odd) - I'm not sure what they washed my wheels with last time but it turned the valve caps white! Couldn't be bothered to get back to them about it.
They won't do the full inside/outside valeting that some dealers do, and probably won't make you coffee, but for the money, who's worried? Last time I was there the courtesy car was a tiny Citroën. If they're busy they hire in slightly larger Toyotas! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

TVLR Thumbs Up

No they don't valet the vehicle.
The coffee was good, and so were the biscuits - my two ladies nearly ate them all.
Three days courtesy car whilst we stayed up on the coast by Lindisfarne was a small, fine and clean Toyota.

They can, like all humans make a mistake. One of a number of tasks they were charged with was to rectify a fault on the front PDC. The documentation clearly stated FRONT - but they checked the REAR. On collection of her Ladyship's FL2 at 16:30hrs this error was discovered. Front sensors still not working.

Four TVLR staff set about identifying the fault. They close at 17:30hrs. By 19:00hrs on a dark October night they had identified the fault - new PDC ECU required. They did not have one in stock Confused Despite not having the part in stock one can only applaud the TVLR team for staying so late after normal hours to try and rectify matters. Bow down Bow down

Would I recommend TVLR - yes wholeheartedly Very Happy

As we had a ferry booked out of Hull to Zeebrugge I telephoned Dan @ Duckworth's the next morning and told them I needed this new part and fitted. Within 1hr 15minutes of arrival in Market Rasen it was fitted and all fine, then we were on our way to Hull. Well done Duckworth's Thumbs Up

Second service

Well a very early start to drive up and get the second service carried by TVLR plus the roof bars fitted.

A very friendly and professional organisation not to mention a decent saving on my local dealers even after taking into account fuel costs
Work completed on time

Excellent coffee, and a clean and shiny car to drive back in.

Highly recommended- and will be back for the next service

By the way loan car was a news Toyota Aygo which was excellent and ecomomical in getting me out to drop my Barbour Jacket off for reproofing and then along to the Coast on a stunning sunny day for a walk along by the Souter lighthouse followed by a coffee in Whitburn.
Even the drive back down the A1 wasn't too bad

Wales 2015 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Fuji White

Just had my second service done by Likes Land Rover between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye.

They're an hours drive away from me but Stratstone Newport (where I bought the car) quoted me £496 and Likes originally quoted me £406. I was happy with that but when I rang back to book it in they gave me a 10% discount so final cost was £366.

Service was excellent and I had a free courtesy car - which was an actual Freelander rather than the Ford Focus Stratstone gave me when I had my first service done. Sad

I gather Likes came second in the official dealer survey last year and it shows. I can certainly recommend them - and the countryside around them is beautiful too!

2nd Service

My car has just done 20k but needs its 2nd year service.

I have been quoted £495 which seems a bit extreme. I had a 2.2 diesal Toyota before and the service costs were around £300 from a main dealer.

Does any one know what I get for the extra £200 on something with pretty much the same engine?

Cheers

Phil

Phil, basically all you get is a Landrover stamp in the book, nothing more.

Landrover dealer services are expensive, probably due to the plush showrooms, etc

have a read through the forum re servicing and it will open your eyes somewhat.

Most expensive so far was £523.44 and the lady couldnt tell me why it was different to Toyota but did say all the filters need changing - umm thats a lot of money for filters.

Anyway she did come down to £470 very easily and so I rang the first dealer who eventually came down to £455.

Its annoying as I tend to use the dealerships whilst my car is in warranty - I think next year maybe a different story.

The only thing I worry about is the years warranty I still have left - I have heard that unless its a genuine LR Service, that they try to wriggle out of any problems that may occur

Next years will be at my local garage Wink

European Block Exemption Rules allow you to maintain manufacturers warranty provided vehicle is serviced by a recognised garage ie VAT registered.
Conditions: vehicle must be serviced exactly in accordance with manufacturers schedule and with genuine manufacturers parts.

Worst case scenario: total engine failure, not only would you need to produce your invoice from servicing garage you may be required to produce garage invoice for the purchase of genuine parts from main dealer.

A leading manufacturer may make the filters for Land Rover and sell identical filters through a motor factor under their own name at lower prices, this is where problems could arise.

I am not saying this would always be the case but as service manager and warranty administrator (retired) for leading manufacturer I attended meeting leading up to and after the introduction of EBER.

I repeat "worst case scenario" All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.
