Drive-away locking

I have a 2011 Freelander2.
I have seen mention in posts that the DAL (drive-away auto locking) can be turned off, without going to a Dealer, but I haven't been able to find it Embarassed

Would someone be kind enough to put a link on for me, or tell me how to do it?

-I live in Sweden, and car-jacking is not such a problem here..... Very Happy

I don't have the display/set-up menu.
I think my car is just before that dashboard facelift.

why is it a safety feature?

Anyway, there's far too much imposed safety these days. I certainly don't want anyone 'knowing what's best for me' Evil or Very Mad

Well then I would deactivate your seat belt chime and then rip out your seat belts also Rolling Eyes MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Its a feature that certainly drives me bonkers on occasions and I would also like to be able to turn it off. If I lived somewhere like Jo'burg I might feel differently but I don't live there!

Is there a way to switch it off without lining dealer pockets with yet more of my cash?

It's a security feature that would have saved a colleague a load of hassle. She'd put her stuff onto the back seat of her car in the carpark of the school she works at and driven off. At the end of the road she had to wait in the usual queue. Some little git was hanging around there and pulled open the door and made off with her hand bag. Purse with money, credit cards, all the usual stuff.

Always nice to have choice though - and I'd like to know how to activate my choice to switch the feature off if possible.

I've driven cars without such a feature for over 40 years and never needed it yet.

There are other features that weren't in my earlier cars and I am glad to have many of them, from warm seats to safety belts but the driver seat belt chime was irritating and I was able to turn it off, like I said, nice to have choice.

So..... does anyone know how or if it can be done?
