Has anyone removed those pointless trims that clip on the wing edge and go rusty within

Got a pic, I can't think of what you are referring to, or perhaps I just don't have them? Nice to know so I can take some preventative action! |

Here is a photo. It is the ribbed rubber strip that you can see on the edge of the wing, just to the left

I believe the idea is to minimise stone chips ( therefore corrosion) on the folded in wheel arch edge. Replaced mine when they deteriorated. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Yes, I renewed mine on the previous one, but they did not seat right, and rusted very quickly. 2013 Dynamic Santorini black

I dipped the ends of my new ones into some rust inhibitor before I fitted them. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Ha! I thought they were plastic. I'll keep an eye on them, maybe try taking the car back to the dealer if they look like they are rusting, you never know! |

They are a "U" shaped rubber edge trim reinforced with a steel liner to grip the metal edge of the wheel arch. The steel liner is encased by the rubber except for the cut ends, which is where the corrosion starts. Seal or treat the ends and they will last longer. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
