United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
New Car time!

Got the nod to look at new cars yesterday. So loads of choices, narrowed down to the following :-

Mercedes C220 SE Executive Auto
VW Passat 2.0 TDi GT DSG
VW Passat 2.0 TDi R-Line DSG
Audi A3 Saloon S-Line TDi S-Tronic
Volvo S60 R Design
Insignia SRi VX-Line Bi-Turbo diesel
Mercedes GLA200 CDi AMG Line

Going to have some fun with test drives!

Which would be your choice? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Agree - the Volvo! Way more interesting to drive than the others. The build quality is so good on those cars as well.

not the Merc - drives like a barge and the fuel pumps go pop

not the A3 - unless you're twisted in shape - bang your head on the door EVERY time you get in or out and the centre console sticks into your left knee!

What about the re-invented Willy's Jeep Renegade? http://www.jeep.co.uk/renegade/?campaignid=PPC19135

The one that's missing from the list is the Discovery Sport.
And personally, that's the only one I'd consider.
All the rest are mere cars, are they not?

Check the Passat has two reverse lights, the previous model only came with one and you couldn't reverse without a torch. This drives my father in law crazy.

This is not to replace the Freelander. This is to replace my company car. Disco Sport is stupidly expensive to lease, and the emissions are too high for our work policy.

Merc is out of the window, as the SE seats are just plain awful. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

The post didn't say that, but as long as you're still in a 4 x 4. Thumbs Up

Of course! Freely still here!

Well, subject to a test drive, it looks like I am going for the new 2015 Passat 2.0 TDi GT. DSG. Has pretty much the same spec as my Freelander Lux!

So got to test drive it and then let the boss know! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

The VW dsg takes a bit of adjusting to , on overrun VW open the clutch to save fuel so eng revs drop to idle and you get no engine braking, also when coasting up to a junction or roundabout at say 10-15 mph and you decide to accelerate to get in a gap they can get caught in wrong gear, then change down with a jolt and a bang.

I'm surprised, I thought with you being a Vauxhall fan it would've been a no brainier. Or at least the Volvo but not the Passat. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

As its a company car I'm sure Mav couldn't give a toss about depreciation - decisions, decisions - such a headache (only jealous as I have to fund my motor from retirement income) MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

The Insignia is a fantastic car to drive and cruise in. It doesn't get the credit it deserves, and the lease costs are very good.

But as I want an automatic, the Insignia Auto is 140g/km on the emissions which is too high. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
