I say the opposite. I ran with my one stripped for a few weeks/ 300 miles and there was no difference whatsoever with the starting or running. Only the shutdown.

I've noticed my car for the last few days has been lumpy on shutdown. Today when I turned the car off and I got out I could hear a loud squeal. I started the engine a couple of times and on shut down I got a squeal or a loud tick tick tick for a few seconds then the car goes quiet. Does this sound like a throttle valve issue? I phoned the local indy I use and he thought it might be a fuel heater because of the cold weather, he said that LR's make funny noises when cold.

Then later on I got in my car, inserted fob but didn't start car, I put my foot on the clutch and I could hear a quieter motorised noise. I'm going to call of at the indy I use tonight and let him listen to the noise just to double check, I'm not the best person when it comes to describing things over the phone!! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Yep. Stripped teeth by the sound of it. Exact same symptons that I had. Mine was more a 'squawking' noise. Didn't do it all the time towards the end probably because they had completey stripped.

Called off at the indy I use tonight and he comfirmed straight away mine was the throttle valve. He said that sometimes theres a fuel heater in the car that makes a similar noise to the valve and a lot of people notice this noise in the winter and thinks theres a problem. Anyway mines booked in for next week.

Indy said he has replaced many throttle valves, he said they are a very common problem on the FL2. He told me ha cant understand why the engine management light hasn't come on so maybe the throttle is stuck in an half open position. Hopefully the car will keep running ok until next week! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
