Evening guys, I drove the Girlfriend's Freely today and noticed that there was a sort of squeeky / creaking sound coming from the glove box area. I turned the stereo and blowers off and realised it wasn't inside the car, but down in the nsf suspension area. It is when the car goes over bumps, or if I rock the steering from side to side to move the weight around on the suspension. I pulled over and rocked the steering whilst stationary and it's silent, so I'm guessing it's not steering related, but instead maybe some form of bush or joint in the suspension setup?
I will contact the garage tomorrow to have a look but just thought someone on here may of had the same thing in the past?

The air intake on the wing has a single screw that has been loose in the past.
This gives an impression that the noise is coming from that area.

Thanks for that, just had a look through it but those guys seemed to be describing it as a rattle, which this really isn't, this sounds like a really squeeky old mattress

Mine has a noticeable suspension creak when its below 1 degree outside.

I was going to ask the forum as well to see if it was normal.

Is that possible? just being a cold thing,as mad as that sounds, it has never done it before and only did it this weekend when it was registering -2 outside?
All I know is that this Freely is giving me more grief this year than my TVR and that's saying something!

Evening guys, just to update on this, I had the garage look at the car and they found a bush that looked like it had seen better days in the ns lower arm. They replaced this today and road tested it and all was fine.
I collected and got around 10 miles away when it developed another squeaking / creaking noise from the same area.
Now obviously I'm going to speak to them again, but in the meantime I have 2 questions:

1: can / could new bushes, especially in cold maybe need to bed in or loosen up etc and therefore is it possible for them to cause a noise?

2: Is it worth just spraying some kind of lube / grease on the moving parts around the ns suspension area to see if that stops it?

Grease may be a bad idea if you have any rubber parts. A spray of WD40 is cheap and will do no harm. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

You can get creaking from the base of the A pillar, when it gets colder 2 metal parts begin to rub causing a creak, some louder than others. When it's warmer the parts expand and don't rub. Land Rover are aware and have issued a fix where they insert a long screw driver up into the A pillar to prise the panels apart.

Mine had this and was fixed under warranty, mine knocked and creaked when turning at low speed and over bumps.

Would of thought it would be worth cheeking the front suspension? LR008025

Just been out with the other half driving so I could have a listen to where this noise is coming from. I actually think from sitting in passenger seat that its coming from higher up around the bulkhead area. I'm going to strip the plastic covers off from around the bottom of the screen in a minute and see if anything is loose etc around the wiper motor area?

Have rock of the battery see if it's loose at all,I know what you mean rattles and squeakes drive me mad.

Right, I've been out and had a fiddle around with it, checked battery, that's all good, lubricated bonnet hinges as I read another thread saying that had caused a squeaking sound and visually checked everything I could see and get my hands on. I also removed the glovebox and checked everything up behind there.
Took it round the block and still the same! It's absolutely doing my head in now, I can't stand rattles or creaking sounds like this. Don't really know where to go with it now, thinking it may be pointless just putting it back in garage again to pay them labour to check it over, with no guarantee at all they'll find anything?

Then went out in my TVR to cheer myself up, which amazingly for a hand built british and plastic sports car has no strange noises at all - typical hey!

I fixed mine with the knob on the dash board, the one marked 'volume' heater up, roof open, great!
