Scotland 2008 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Manual Orkney Grey
noisy engine

Hi folks, just bought 2008 freelander 90,000 miles on clock looks minted, but when accelerating get this rattling noise, sounds like petrol pinking , only louder, anyone any ideas.

If the sound is not excessive, it's the sound of a normal diesel engine on load.

2014 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Aintree Green

try slick 50 ! i had similar noise in a shogun under load and quietened the engine noise considerably.

Try using a named brand fuel and see if that shows any difference. My wife will insist on using cheap supermarket fuel and when she pulled away the other morning (temp was in minus figures) it sounded like a bag of spanners.
