Definitely worth taking it apart to have a look. Take some photos if you give it a go. |

Thanks for the replies. Forgive my ignorance, but how do you clean the inside of a cd player? |

If the CDs are getting stuck then it is either a foreign body that has got into the mechanism or a plastic cog has sheared some teeth. I have stripped down and repaired a separates system CD player but not the LR one. Mine was a broken cog, the CD player was over 15 years old but I got a replacement cog sent from Japan for about £3. The majority of cd transports, the bit that spins and holds the discs were Philips for many years, may well still be. I am not sure of the transport in the LR but I would imagine it would be Philips based, again may be wrong. I would take it out and then start dismantling carefully. I would have thought you should be able to fix this relatively simply once the unit is out and on the bench, although you may need a replacement part if some thing is broken. Do you have the single or 6 multidisc? How handy are you? |

Like most blokes, I don't mind having a go if I can work out the access in and out, but I can't see how to remove the player in the first place so a little reluctant to even start for fear of wrecking the dash. |

That's brilliant RichP, thank you. You clearly have much better search skills than me too. |
