Reset and recalculate your MPG according to your driving style.

Yeah, what Joe says! You should get 35-39 I would have thought. I get about 38 give or take using the onboard computer, not physically measured it yet. |

If previous owners has just short runs and not reset computer it will take ages to make a difference. I get between 35-39 mixed in the same model manual diesel 150. Your right the ride is good. 2017 Discovery Sport Pure Fuji White "Lynne"

Like all cars it uses a lot more when cold. So if only a few miles were covered since the last reset the effect of those cold miles will drag the consumption fig down. You can also see 100+ when going downhill after a reset! Reset it when hot & doing a decent journey & you'll see normal figs. Probably 35-40 depending on conditions. |

At the moment my daily commute of 15 miles each way with an average speed of 18 mph is averaging @ 25 mpg.

I see the OP has an 08 manual. My last 08 SE was similar, living in a rural area, achieving about 32-33mpg overall in the 28,000 miles I had it, including maybe some 4,000 miles towing a caravan. I now have a MY10 TD4 HSE auto and currently achieve about 30mpg (click on icon in sig below) with similar usage. Dependent upon proportion of short journeys and/or motorway miles others will see results around this. To be economical you need to drive for journeys of 30 mins or more at speeds of 50 - 60 mph, minimising revs to below 2,000 as much as possible. If fuel economy is the priority, why buy a Land Rover? It's the "drive" that counts!

I've been monitoring mine for about 18 months now and have got an average of just over 35 over that time. I can get 38 on a long(3hr) motorway journey and it goes down to 33 if more short journeys. I don't race it but don't creep around either. Gentler acceleration and predict stopping to avoid heavy braking seems to have the best effect. 12MY 61plate FL2 TD4 auto GS Orkney Grey Roof spoiler full size spare
