Go on the App Store look for iSpeak FR, you can put text in to it in English, it will translate it to French and vice versa and will verbally announce it. Also look for Word Lens, you can scan a phrase that is in French such as something on a box in a supermarket and it will translate it for you.

Off to south of France in May. Hope I don't regret not having one! Laughing

I was in Europe for four months. The relatives cars have sunroofs. Hired a car for a month, it had a sunroof, not by choice. Also had a car with a sunroof for a few months a couple of years ago and was in South France for a month. Had a lot of days in the 40-43C range. The heat there was as bad as Australia.

On the whole on all holidays we had very good weather for most days. Didn't use the sunroofs once other than the novelty effect on the first day or so to see if it was any good. Also had a lot of days when the weather was very hot and it was simply better keeping the cars fully closed and run the AC, no different to Australia.

Living in the hemisphere with less ozone and higher radiation maybe I am accustomed to keeping my head covered.

Also found if I kept the sunroof closed but the blind open the light from above is more of an annoyance than anything else, especially when the sun if flickering while driving under a corridor of trees. Sunroofs and blinds were kept closed, and AC on.

P.S. Take a broad brimmed ventilated sun hat for south France. For the females an umbrella for the sun is appreciated. If you happen to go via Monet's house in Giverny the shop had some nicely printed compact aluminium framed umbrellas for the girls back in 2010. Hopefully they still sell them.

P.P.S. My other half speaks French but you will have no problem speaking English. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The window wind deflectors are good if you want to keep the widow/s open a bit. & they are cheap as chips.
