Done it!!

Changed my car today! Whistle Bought a 60 reg XS, dark grey (Lago?) interior ivory leather. 72K, They have
offered me a paintshine job (similar to Paintseal on a caravan) £440....any good? Collect car
next week. Thumbs Up
Actually went to view another model, but found out it was 2WD! Had a gander at the new Discovery. Lovely, I
think it will outsell the Evoque.

Anyone want my present FL2? VGC. 129300 trouble free miles £8000 ovno. Wink

I personally wouldn't have the paintshine done, not when you can buy the same stuff yourself for £30 to £40 MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

Congratulations Thumbs Up

+1 for cancelling the paint protection. Bought a new Fiesta last year and they wanted £400 for diamond brite protection.
In the end I negotiated and got it for £50. IMO not even worth that. salesman will be on commission for paint protection products.

Good on you Thumbs Up

I also would to would not bother with the Paint Seal/Paint Shine, it's only as good as the person who does it, rather do it myself or pay someone like The Valeter to do it so I know its done correctly.

I deliver cars for a living, that being said, car specific... Landrover, Audi, vw, Skoda and Volvo and all the sales we deliver too offer the paint protection at a marked up price expecting you to barter them down to what you think is a good price but will be the actual price they were going to charge anyway. Diamondbrite is around £250 same with life shine. I had my last car, (Audi S3) done twice last year for £40 each time. And I got the touch up kit too.

It really isn't worth the money you pay! And mostly they don't do the quality job you would do to your new car. They have 10 a day to do, so I'd think it would be a rush job with no TLC.

congrats on the new car though 😀

This is the Autoglym kit... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autoglym-Lifeshi...3a9f3ba4fc

As you can see its very expensive Wink

Worth investing in but it is also worth building on it - Detailing World can help there - be warned - its addictive...

Yes it's very addictive! When I had the S3 done, it was by a Skoda dealer that offer life shine to customers! Then also offer it on the side. Proper valeter, they spend hours on it as the £40 they make doesn't go to the dealer, but does cover the cost of the lifeshine kit. Big rip off. 😜

Great! I will order that next week. Thumbs Up I like keeping a car immaculate, and it will give
me something new to do. Very Happy The car appears to have quite a few HSE upgrades, will have to
study them when I get it.
Went on to Stratstones website to drool over the video of it today, and they have removed it! Big Cry 2013 Dynamic Santorini black

Congrats on the car.
Good choice not having the paintshine stuff, at that price I'd be tempted to have it detailed/corrected Smile SD4 HSE Lux Orkney Grey,Full size spare tyre,Ugly kid glass.

Also don't get GAP insurance from dealers! They make 100s on it. Go to www.ala.co.uk ! * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

I much prefer polishing the car myself. Bought our Tiguan and the dealer offered us the Autoglym kit for free as an incentive. He was a bit surprised when I turned it down. I did let him do the interior though (cloth) like a scotchguard treatment means it stays clean with 2 messy children doing their best to make it look secondhand!

Funnily enough, they did offer me GAP insurance, but I was aware of that one, and refused it.
They also offered me alloy wheel insurance. I am having the Evoque wheels transferred to the
new one when I pick it up. I bet there is a clause where you cannot claim for "swapped" wheels!

Stratstone!!!!
When updating Mercedes I drove model we liked and was happy if deal OK, salesman was told "a straight price to change with NO extras"
He then summoned business manager who took details and returned with quote, I nearly fell off chair.
Almost £2000 for GAP, Tyre and Wheel Ins, Sureguard Mats and flaps and £80 admin fee. I was paying cash. I asked him to remove all this from pro forma invoice and he said he could not as it was a legal requirement.
I am aware that it is a legal requirement to OFFER additional insurance products and told him so,
"you obviously don't know the law and its compulsory to put it on invoice" was the reply.
I told him he was the most rude person I had met in a long time and assured him I would never set foot in dealership again.
Still have a Merc but not from Stratstone. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
