If I wanted to "enjoy " driving" a car ie throw it around coners I would buy a sports car. Next you will be telling me if I want to "enjoy" some fresh air I should wind down the window manually

fortunately I still enjoy the art of driving, even at my age !! ( I have three manual cars, Landrover, MX5 and Golf Gti )

enjoying driving to me is nothing to do with "throwing a car around corners" and if that's what you think enjoying driving is then so be it, and explains to a certain extent why you prefer an auto.

as for manual versus electric windows I prefer electric.

I realise that some day I will probably need an auto, and for me it will take away a big part of the driving experience, but hopefully that's a wee bit away !!

Britpart do them too. Have a look at their website them find a local supplier as you cannot deal direct.
As said above there are other makes on eBay. Search on forum for threads on the topic. It's been done to death on here  * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

IMO it's the best interior mod to make.
Apart from resting your arm & the cubby box storage, it does lift the quality spec of the interior.
Best £100 I've spent on the interior (oh,along with my perforated leather steering wheel).

So its gone back to the dealers and they've relieved me of £360 for the third service plus a set of brake pads and I'm now back in my car.

The autobox did get better but it just wasn't consistent in its behaviour for me, possibly because the car was new and had only 1500 miles on it or perhaps its just how it is. If it was my first ever experience of a FL2 then I'd probably be very put off by it.

I semi convinced myself it was smoother pulling away than the manual but its just down to how you drive, I prefer the quicker response of the manual at the expense of having to move two limbs.

As for ignoring the heated windscreen, maybe this one was a duff one so heres a photo.

In no time at all you look through them, then they just disappear.

My X3 doesn't have a heated front screen which I do miss, although there is a 'blast' button which kicks the blowers on full blast and within a minute or so the ice is falling off the screen - I did notice on my FL2 that heating wires were visible particularly in bright sunlight and was a little off putting. I don't have armrests either which I thought I would really miss and I loved them of the FL2 however I do have a large centre cubbie armrest that is more than adequate and the top of the door is just at the right height for my right arm to rest on. The green and white lights is shocking - how lazy were LR not do change them all to white??? Does the centre instrument cluster display change colour? I had a couple of MY13 loaners but never got around to driving them at night but did think they would abit too glaring in your face. The X3 has a white display but at night it turns orange so as not to dazzle you - nice touch! Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

Current SD is my 2nd SD and 4th FL2 all autos. The SD is brilliant, auto box has adaptive memory and I have experience of it changing driving style.
Annual trip to Isle of Mull for Mull Rally, usually consists of up to 200 miles on islands single track roads, lots of stop start in passing places and some fairly brisk!!! driving in sport mode. Return to main road on journey home the gear change is slightly delayed but after 30 miles or so of all back to normal.
The complaint re revving through gears and slow to change, I assist changes by momentarily lifting off throttle.

!!! Its also possible that driver had accidentally engaged GGS or other programme, I did this a few times on 13my when fiddling for electric handbrake control. Previous SD had older control and HB lever. All FL2's (3) Gone

? How do you mean - I've always viewed keyless as more risky especially with the latest batch of LR and RRs....

EB - I like in my other halfs car for all the reasons mentioned but I had cause to go for my manual HB when I hit some black ice on a hill a couple of weeks back. With some steering it brought the back end in again... with an EB this would not have been possible.

Heated screen - a must and TBH you cant see the wires after a while.

Autobox - This all depends on the box its self. In my Saab I found my self fighting it a lot for what I wanted when in manual and this put me off this time.

The new DS seems to be a lot smarter and I would love to see an in depth review on how that really works and not just a press release...

Interesting thread to read this one, having moved myself from a '07 S manual to a '13 XS SD4 auto.

Overall I wouldn't move back to a manual, it is all a matter of personal preferences but I find the relaxed driving and ability to get a move on if required a real bonus. The adaptive box sometimes upsets itself - there is a half mile stretch on my way to work with 13 speed bumps - if you dash between them and brake sharply before going over them, the box seems to learn to downshift from 3rd to 2nd quite sharply and it continues to do this for a while thereafter, which isn't pleasant when you then slow down and try to drive more smoothly.

The heated screen is great and one of my must haves when searching for my current car. SWMBO's Ford Fusion had it and proved its worth many times. I only find the wires a nuisance at night when the headlights of an approaching car seem to dazzle a bit more than without the heated screen.

The rest of the car is just a massive improvement over the S spec '07 one. But I like my toys in a car. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
