I'm taking it you mean the knobs directly under/part of the armrest....those are for adjusting the armrest up/down, which although only changes the angle, does provide nice height adjustment.

My offroading has been on some sand tracks and on a number of beaches, and being an off-road newbie I was a little apprehensive, but I needn't have been, as there was no issues at all.

The later model Pathfinder is too heavy, and doesn't compare well to the older model, except in its looks. Although it has the most powerful engine in the range, the pickup was slow and off-road was nothing special at all and I even thought that if I'd have taken it in deep sand it would have become bogged down. Although the LR2 dips under braking the Pathfinder almost touches its nose to the ground, it has not been my favourite 4x4 that I have driven.

The worst by far was the H3 I had for a week, which in every way is just wrong!

Believe it or not but the XC90, in 2.5T, 3.2, or the V8 are all slower than the LR2. The FX35 and X3 are the quickest cars out of the selection, but when thinking about the off-road part are just nowhere near the mark from what I have read and are too low to be taken seriously off-road.

The handling of the LR2 does take some getting used to, but I can assure you that it can more than handle itself on the road, and the feedback is there, it just isn't as direct as the X3.

For me it came to the XC90 being to slow, and the FX35 and X3 being too road orientated for where my car needs to go on occasion, making the LR2 the best combination of off and on-road handling........the boy in me was drawn to the FX35, with the snob in me saying it's a Nissan! My eyes clearly saw how ugly the X3 is, but still the performance and handling were attractive, if I was using it always on the road.

Yeah you've seen the magazine article I was talking about.

The AC is spot on and with the 40+ temps we've been having I have had no issues.

I just had a thought.......there's a couple (i'm guessing) that own a 335 and a 307cc taht park directly infront of me in the basement carpark where I live at Golf Towers in The Greens....it wouldn't be you would it??!

Also have a BMW 335 - boy they're fast aren't they, love it, we have auto its incredibly good.

We too had reservations about having a LR2 as our second car, but they have been mis-founded (touch wood), really pleased with ours.

They are COMPLETELY different driving experiences, we have a GS LR2 because it had all we needed, however I do think the SE is propably the most balanced spec for price - depends what you need from the car.

When you get the LR park it next to the BMW and compare the paint jobs - the BMW looks c**p compared.

A great choice of 2 cars if you don't mind me saying.

I have an auto 335 as well - its a blast isn't it? Its the weekend here and am gonna go hit the back roads in a few hours to have a bit of fun.

Over here I doubt they sell many petrol version of anything any more. Just back from a grocery run where I ended up driving an extra 50kms across the back roads (which were empty) and of course in DS . I never tire of this.

Beautiful colour combo there. Wanted to get the graphite but would have had to wait 6 months for it here. The Silver was available within 2 months so settled for the silver instead.

I've not driven a Pathfinder in the same conditions I have driven the LR2, but my feeling is that the LR2's weight works for it and I think it also has a shorter wheel base which would probably make it slightly better offroad.

The AC is up (or down!) to temperture in a very short time, and seem to think is better than some of the other vehicles I've driven here, but that's not a back to back test so would be just a feeling.

We've had our apartment since October last year, but only managed to get here in Feb and my wife at the end of March, with the ship bound stuff arriving a couple of weeks back.

I guess you're living in the Mirdiff area then.........

A few things had cropped up which meant we had to push the car order back (basically the missus got offered a job in London - which she is not taking now).

So we are going to place the order this week.

Looks like it is going to be the Lago Grey (if they have it) with the beige leather interior and HSE.

Went over to the dealer to place the order and he only had 2 HSEs in stock.

One Black on Black - way too much of the black for me.

The other Sand Gold with beige - don't especially like this colour.

So have to wait for 2 months for the right colour combo - kinda sucks.
