I finish at 12.30 on Christmas Eve then not back till the 5th, our company is open over the break but I've booked the time off to spend it with wife and son. For some stupid reason this year our company decided to open for the mornings only on the 29,30,31. I'm not going into work for half days over Christmas. Good news: Finished last night (Fri) and back on the 5th. Even managed to get my flexi balance to zero for the start of the new year (day and a half flexi leave next week) so that's a result.

Well, I should have been on a holiday that had been booked since January with friends but sadly, after a long illness and spell in hospital, my father passed away on Sunday night. Not unexpectedly and to be perfectly honest, a blessed relief for him from his suffering and I consider myself lucky to have been holding his hand when he went. So, I've been running round all yesterday and today getting death certificates, sorting out my mother and sister, phoning relatives, booking the funeral and all the stuff that goes with it. Anyway, finally all sorted for next week now so going to get away tomorrow for a few days with good friends, my wife and our dog. Life goes on. Enjoy it while you can and never forget to tell those close to you how much you love them. |
