Xenon headlights

Hi everyone
First of all I wanted to thank you guys on the forum for your posts as they have helped me considerably on my quest to upgrade the headlights.

Also big thanks to Fredastaire for answering my questions about this subject.

So I have a 60 plate with standard lamps and as you have also noted they are awful, it may be that coming from my last car a C class with adaptive headlights spoiled me but either way I have perfect eyesight and I find them terrible.

I bought 4 of the osram unlimited nightbreaker bulbs which have improved the lights as well as having LR adjust the lights.

Now I still feel they are inadequate so I spoke to Fred about fitting projector lamps as I have a spare set of HID in H7 fitting but now I understand that wont work very well so....
I found the attached projector, xenon and adaptive headlamps on ebay and I am willing to pay that for them but I wonder if I will need to have anything adapted wiring wise or software updated for the adaptive part ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281363126254?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT

What's everyone thoughts ?

Use the contact the seller button and ask him for a complete set. I brought mine from him and got a new set for a good price.
Very knowledgeable guy and pleasant to deal with.

You will need a software upgrade - so that the car ECU knows that xenons are fitted. 10min job to change over the headlight units and plug them in.

Thanks Charlie
I did that already and got a few quid knocked off, I called LR though and they didn't seem so helpful with the software update so I might need to find an indy to do that.

on the subject of yours you didn't need to do anything other than plug them in ? apart from the software and are they much better ?

Hmm that's strange because when I click it they are available.

I am going to call a local company today to see if they can do the software change.

eBay Item No. 281363126254 is the item number on ebay for one of them.

They just plug straight in on a 07 model.Really could not be easier to change them over. The difference is huge, somewhere on here or you tube a guy did a comp between them on a wall, although not very scientific it was a big difference. I live out in the sticks,no street lights and the lights make it so much nicer and safer to drive at night.

Charlie
I have my lights now and I am about to fit them but before I do I went to a local indy this morning and he couldn't see where or how to tell the car it now had xenon lights ...
he kept trying to access the headlamp module but it wouldn't connect so I am guessing my car doesn't have a headlamp module ? I know I cant get the adaptive part of my new ones to work because there are missing components so I am content with just the xenons but I don't want to risk damaging the units by fitting before the software changes.

Any ideas of exactly what to do in the software ?

Have a look at this thread on the subject. The coding is not done in the headlight module apparently. Find an Indy with auto logic and support and they should have no probs. mine cost £48 inc the VAT to have done.

Car Configuration File.

Xenons should work before being configured (at least, they do on a D3, no reason a FL2 would be different) but will flicker on start-up as they need a surge of power. Thumbs Up Freelander 2 2007 TD4 Manual HSE Tambora Flame

Thanks for the info. Really shouldn't have assumed. I'd forgotten about the lack of bulb warning system on the D3 and as you say, after some research, it seems the flickering is continuous on the FL2.

CCF edit should sort you out though. Thumbs Up Freelander 2 2007 TD4 Manual HSE Tambora Flame
