I'm glad I found this post, I've been wondering how I can mount my T2 lamps. We have a FL1 which has some brackets on the cross member and I was going to spend some time in the workshop measuring/making some for the FL2 - now no need

Be aware if anyone is looking at my old Driving Lamp bracket mounting sketch (linked in earlier thread) this was designed around the pre-facelift grille and bumper. I imagine the facelift arrangement (MY 2011 and on) would require slight modifications. Sorry it’s not a better diagram.

You've done a damn good job though in sketching it out.
Certainly plan to use that as a base when I take my bumper off for a look.

I wouldn't worry about the diagram - all the needed Info is there. I'm used to working off diagrams drawn in mud on mudguards, back of trailers or if nothing else is available the rear window so yours are ideal for me

These are my new 7" HID spots.
I upgraded and gone from 3500 to about 5000 Lumens each.

Oh and yes, they've got orange on them
........ which I quite like.

Was going to get a set of conventional ones with squared stone guards, but thought on something a bit different.





Now just need to wait for delivery.

Looks nice you will need to have the brackets extended a good bit out as the back of the lights will hit the grill. Easy option is to buy a front A Bar and mount them on! It offers some frontal protection also  MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Yeah they are quite deep ( think that's the HID Xenon ballast).
But the FL2 front grill is angled back, so they may not protrude too far.
I'll have a play around when they arrive and see how things look.

One way or another I'll definitely get them to fit without a bull bar.
Even if I have to hack a couple of chunks out the grill.
But thanks for suggestion anyway.

I do admire your mods very few people go the full hog now and kit out LR's like they used to back in days! Sadly it seems the simplistic route is the in thing! There are so many FL2's up here and I have not even seen one with spots or even the genuine driving lamp pods! LED light bars are very good for close and medium distances, but not so good for distance.
Do not remember one of the works cars on Rally GB using them. They are still using conventional lighting pods.
But of course pods do not look so good on FL2's.

I prefer the aesthetics of the spot lights rather than LED bars or light pods.
Viewing side on, the FL2 [IMO] is a bit 'pointy' at the front end, so the Spots will flatten that out a little.
But this is from a man who's come from boxy D3 & D4

I had a choice of beam pattern with these lights:
Flood beam - no doubt floods the area in front.
Spot beam - no doubt throws further ahead but in a narower beam.
Went for the Spot beam as reckon existing lights [with Night Breakers] has the foreground covered ok.
Hope I understood correctly and chose the right one ...... tough though if I didn't!

Flood the road in front and cut through into the distance with the other, fit the pencil beam on the offside

Yeah had thought about that Paul, but the glass/reflectors are different giving an unmatched look to the lights.
Flood has ribbed glass/reflector and therefore can look darker whilst the Spot is plain and it's clear.
But good idea though

I agree with you, if the lamps look different it will look odd, looking forward to seeing the end result
