I had the alarm fault today ad yesterday. Yesterday, the alarm went off about 5 times, even when I decided not o lock the car. Today, 5 times as well, so I decided to have the car removed. The alarm fault comes with other technical faults, such as a airbag warning light which cannot turned off, they thried to install a new electronic driver, but ordered a wrong version, so they are still puzzling. No idea when they can resolve this. Anyone had these problems?

I had the same problem with the airbag light, turned out to be a faulty sensor in the 'B' post. Had no more problems since this was changed.

Update - my alarm had a weekend of madness - going off repeatedly, then OK, then just the siren sounding but no lights flashing! called LR Assist who sent out the local recovery firm!! He only had a basic fault reader (rather than the Laptop system), and it showed no fault.
Disconnected the battery to get a bit of peace, and rang the dealer who checked with LR to see if it was a known fault. They came back with "Have you had any problem with Auto lights and Auto Wipers". Well, Yes I had - the lights had started coming on in normal daylight and the wipers were also very sensitive for a few days last week. I had put it down to a dirty windscreen over the sensors and had even washed it. Shocked
The dealer thus claims to know what the problem is and has ordered a BBS. (I believe that this is a battery backed sounder). Now waiting, deafened, for it to come in. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

My car went to the dealer, they did a 3-days diagnostic test, and could not fix the problem. They asked Landrover NL, and based on the error messages they read, they concluded that one of the four computers in my car is meant for the USA market instead of the Dutch market. This results in that USA error codes are mapped to NL translations of the messages, and it seems that in the USA a different mapping is used compared to what they use in NL. So the guys who should fix the car fix problems based on wrong causes. Strange, as I am in IT business, and could never imagine a Landrover would be like a SAP system Smile

This evening, again the car's alarm went its own way. Siren and claxon went of repeatedly. I thought I went mad as well. LR Assistance told me to unplug the poles of the battery, but @ 2330 I could not fix that properly; turning off the minus pole resulted in the siren yelling loudly. Finally, they picked up the car, because this friday my car will get a new dutch computer. Now I am driving a fiat panda Cool

This evening it was raining, and the first time it occurred, it rained as well. I think there might be a problem with a sensitivity sensor which went crazy, my car (the basic version) does not have auto light and auto wipers, but has alarm, which has sensors I think.

To be continued.....

Update - booked in for next Thursday (30th) for a new BBS.
But I won`t know if it has cured the problem because the alarm has behaved perfectly for the past few days! Well it is a Landrover. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

When I took mine in for the PTC fuse , the tech noticed that the battery backed up alarm sounder was disconnected. "Hove you had problems with this he asked" , no mate never touched it. Turns out the thing had been never connected in the factory! , well it turns out that there is a known problem on these , whereby the on-board elcetronics fails and sounds the alarm intermitantly etc! Good Luck

Spooky my car started to suffer this problem just 4-5 days before it went for its 45k miles service.

When I booked the service I described the alarm problem and the dealer siad they'd order in the part and replace during the service visit.

Part didn't arrive, went to pick car up and was told nothing had been done ... told them I could not possibly accept the car back with the fault, so they disconnected the alarm.

Currently running around with no alarm, but at least getting a good nights sleep, not disturbed by alarm going off. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

Strange... For the year i've owned the car, i've never had the alarm go off, yet since it's first service (December 2008), the alarm has gone off about 4 or 5 times now, usually shortly after i have parked up on the drive and locked the car?

Also, why such a wimpy sounding alarm, i was under the impression the alarm sound was the same sound as the panic alarm (horn etc), so the first time it went off it took me 2 or 3 minutes to realise it was the landy!

All though this is not a solution, I too have experiences this weak sounding alarm with an intermittent fault when using the remote to open the tailgate release.

I have experimented with setting the alarm with one push and then opening a door through an open window and then the proper loud alarm sounds.

It is almost as if when the alarm sounds when it shouldn't, it just whimpers.

I know my comments are not much help but they may just cause some feed back from other members.
