Hi all,

Bought my 2nd FL2 in August, and it had M+S tyres fitted all round (front nearside was worn unevenly so garage replaced it with a non M+S budget tyre)

As I expected the front offside is now showing signs of uneven wear so I will look at replacing all 4 tyres early in the new year.

I have had Grabber AT2 on both my Freelander 1 that Ive had, and they were brilliant in all conditions for wear rate, grip, noise levels etc etc. with only a minimal loss of economy (if at all)

Has anyone got any thoughts on fitting AT tyres (I would be looking at Grabber AT) for what is 90% road use??

Several of us are running the Grabber AT - if you do a search you'll find lots of useful information. The Grabber AT is an excellent tyre if you need an all-rounder. Like any AT a dedicated road tyre will out-perform it on the road, but it's not bad on road by any means. I'll certainly be fitting them again if I ever wear this set out! Living in the Pennines I do, however, replace them with a dedicated winter tyre in the winter.

I was really impressed with the original AT2 and I know they have changed the tread pattern and compound since then for the AT.

I was a little concerned with them on my Freelander 1 due to the fragile transmission and in particular the VCU, due to the levels of grip provided.

However they performed excellently through a couple of rough winters with plenty of rain, slush and snow and never missed a beat. And the first set lasted me for 50k miles with about 4mm left when I sold the car. Perfect for what I do.

I cant afford to run 2 sets of tyres of summer and winter so would be looking at the AT to cover all the bases.

Having said that I have been reading some of the comments on the Grabber GT on here so may well have a further look at them too.

sadly no, mine are 235/65/17 standard

Not at good as the conti's on the road but ok

Contis was glad when mine wore out.

Changed mine before they wore out ,but they felt a little better on a wet road to me

I opted for the Grabber GT's as I spend most of the time on-road/farm tracks. I am really pleased with them so far-quiet, good cold weather/wet grip and more than adequate for gentle off roading

just got a couple of quotes in from my favourite local tyre fitter

General Grabber AT - £112.80 fitted
General Grabber GT - £100.26 fitted

Think I will be going for 4 x AT in January as I know they will last the mileage and give me grip in pretty much all conditions

I've been looking round to,I only need one I put a hole in my side wall

I've just fitted four Cooper Discoverer AT3, £350 plus £20 fitting. They are 255/65/17.
Seem up to the job so far. I've not noticed any adverse differences in road manners, MPG, noise etc. On the plus side they seem more sure footed in general and a lot grippier then the standard wranglers.

Would recommend them on my experiences so far just hoping for a good dose of snow now...

Not considered the Coopers, what are they like for wear rate/mileage?
