Mystery beeps on unlocking Freelander MY2013

Hi

Just signed up having read topics on this forum many times in the past, and I am hoping you excellent people will be able to help. Traded in my old Freelander 2 S TD4 three weeks ago for a 2013MY SD4 with 8000 miles on it, love the car, especially as it is my first automatic.

Lots of new things to learn about it and yesterday it start making 2 beeps after unlocking. If you unlock all doors by pressing unlock twice, it beeps twice two times. Beep sounds similar to the locking beep. Checked remote battery, tried both remotes, checked message centre, checked this forum, rang the dealer, read the manual, opened and closed all the doors, etc. No joy.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Andrew

Hi, thanks for such prompt reply. Read this thread previously after searching and looked at the locking beep. Switched both off and then on again, but made no difference. Dealer was confused as well.

I'm a bit lost on an unlocking beep. Try turning off the audible beep. Locking and unlocking then re-enable it.

I'm wondering if it's just confused? Mine only beeps when double locked or when a door is left open/not shut properly.

Hard reset Question

I know I don't have a Freelander but the locking system is similar to the D4, if I try to lock it with a door not fully closed I get two short beeps and it refuses to lock any doors Question p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Slightly off topic, but relevant nonetheless....if you have drive away locking enabled, and put the car in N rather than P (engine running) and get out to open your boot, it will not work, whether you press the button on the dash, or use your keyfob it just beeps. I found this by accident (annoyingly, given that it was raining) earlier today....no P, no unlock. I don't seem to recall this on MY2012...can anyone confirm? Or is it purely a MY2013 thing?? Foraging near Gaydon....

Hi, thanks again for the replies.

I guess a hard reset is the way to go, I'm popping into the dealer tomorrow afternoon and maybe they'll have an answer by then. I'll try a hard reset (battery terminals off and held together for 30s?).

As to boot opening except when P, I discovered this as well. N is not good enough!

Update... and success!

Dealer said it was an issue that can be sorted by adjusting the onboard file via diagnostics... I came home and did a hard reset instead -all sorted!

Thanks for the suggestion to do a reset.

All I need is the ding in the wing smart repaired as promised at time of purchase and the wonky mats sorted and I'll have the perfect car! Plus the rattle in the steering column.

Same mystery beeps when unlocking

Hi there

I was parked in a dodgy area and double locked, but think I might have pushed the button an extra time or 2, now my MY2013 FL2 SD4 SE double beeps every time I unlock the vehicle, 4 times if I have to unlock all doors.

I have de-activated the audible locking sound, but don't find any setting for unlocking.
Very loud and annoying when at night or in the garage and need to de-activate this but can't seem to reverse what I have done.

Can you please help as I have tried everything except hard reset and don't want to reset everything.
Is there an easier way to sort this out please?

Thank you in advance ...

Hi

Before I did a hard reset, I did take the car back to the dealer. The service guy said they didn't know why it had started doing it, but that it could possibly be stopped by modifying one of the on board files... I suspect if they did this it would still result in some form of reset.

The hard reset worked for me (both battery terminals off, hold together for 30 seconds and I left it it for 15 min or so before reconnecting). The only things I saw that had changed, apart from stopping the beeping, was the clock, trip computer records and the one shot window function (which can be reset via the handbook instructions).

I don't know of any other way.

Hope that helps.

Apologies for resurrecting my own thread but...

Return of the beeps... on Sunday, I used the radio having not used the car since Saturday to try out some additional MP3 tracks... after a few minutes (literally) I got the low battery warning and system shutdown in 3 minutes alert. Later when unlocking the two beeps returned (4 if unlocking all doors), so it sounds like a hard reset once more.

My question is, does anyone know any more about the low voltage fix on 2013MY cars and when it is applied or what it fixes? All I know is the dealer does this fix if a customer complains about certain behaviours, but I don't know which.

Any help appreciated. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

England 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Orkney Grey

My GS just started to beep on unlocking. Dealer has had other vehicles with same fault. As I understand it there is no software update for the body control module yet so the original software was reinstalled which has cured the problem, but for how long? Started after approx 10 months and 7000 mls.

2013 Freelander 2 2.0T SE Auto Santorini Black

I had success in doing a hard reset to get rid of the unlock beep. Unfortunately it also modified another setting that I am now missing a lot.

Before the hard reset my power windows were one touch automatic down and also UP. After the reset the windows are no longer on touch auto up and I have to hold the button till the windows are all the way up..

Anybody know how to change this?

RTFM

Reset as follows:
1.Close the window fully.
2.Release the switch, then lift it to the close position and hold for 1 second.
3.Repeat the procedure on each window.
