Your crumbling Ed, just open your heart to the DS Laughing . They both look similar, granted the bigger Disco beats it. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e Dynamic Manual Fuji White

Not at all Jamie Laughing if the Disco looks like the concept then and it will be bigger which I have heard and Mav has confirmed then it's very tempting! The DS I have seen in the flesh and I was disappointed Big Cry The shape is one thing but the loss of the command driving position that Land Rover heavily brain washed us in 2004 onwards has gone! I will never get a DS which in a way is a shame as I wonder what the 190 SD4 manual drives like Whistle the evoque was just beautiful Thumbs Up

You may laugh but I even thought of part ex the Dynamic for a new disco HSE Lux the current shape as there will be some sort of deals going. Then I thought don't be silly as I'm not a fan of auto and it would be an impulse buy! For the miles I do I could keep my FL2 for 20 years Rolling with laughter as I'm not fussed about having a new car every few years. I've had my FL1 from new for over 10 years now and it's just on 41,000 miles Wink

In 3/5 years time I will be selling the FL2 and will have to get an auto Big Cry as I cant see JLR making a manual full fat Disco!

But hey anything can happen its a long time away in the meantime I will enjoy my Dynamic MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

On 5th December you mentioned it would be between size of FL1 and FL2.
Am I missing something?
I'm not trying to put you on the spot or anything, but as I mentioned earlier this is something that would interest me. Thumbs Up Currently a FL1 owner.

Just back from my hours test drive, I took it on various roads, town, main A roads and country lanes. I'm impressed, yes you don't get the traditional seating postion but there is still a good veiw from the drivers seat, I was just able to make out the top of the bonnet, but quickly adapted.

I took the manual out, which compared to the Fl2 (which has a good manual box) is silky smooth, a very nice shift. I found the SD4 engine to be very hushed at low speed and very minimal noise on faster roads, only becoming noticeable under hard acceleration. The lower centre of gravity does allow a more spirited drive on road, I did give it good old throw around the country roads and it handled them fantastically.

The overall feel of the car was good, it felt solid and well put together, no creaks or knocks over potholes, the Windsor leather seats were supportive and comfortable after an hours drive I still felt pretty relaxed.

Luggage space is good hindered perhaps by the slightly sloping roofline and rakish rear window should you need to carry large bulky items.

Overall though I'm thrilled with the car and LRs efforts, and happy to continue with my order, which I was told would go into build on 13th March. I've probably come across as biased but the hour I spent with it and for my needs I couldn't fault it. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Just been over to Lookers Bishops Stortford to look at the DS. They have a Fuji in the showroom and a Santorini and a Corris - i think - grey one out doing the test drives (both quite dirty, particularly the tailgates thanks to road spray.

Overall opinion. I would definitely buy one (were I in the market right now) but having seen and touched etc I can't help feeling that is less a 'new' model than say FL2 or Evoque was at launch.

Row three is absolutely useless for us - would prefer row two to fold flat to boot floor level and a full size spare under the boot floor but beyond those fairly minor points, nothing to pick fault with. The Grey was the best colour of the three at the dealership.

Canapes, coffee, doorman etc but apart from those waiting for their test drives, no punters about... Not very well publicised perhaps. Mainly by appointment / invitation? Lookers, although our nearest isn't the dealer we use normally.

Yes I don't think that JLR have really got their act together if they are trying to hit the premium end of the market. Having bought cars from two different LR dealers and had a car serviced at another I have never been invited to anything or been sent promotional literature.

Last week my son was invited to an event at the local Porsche Centre (he has a 911 as well as a Freelander). I went along too. It was very well organised and I would guess that over 100 people were there. Mulled wine, soft drinks, canapes etc , guest speaker, lots of new and classic cars to look at some of which were in the workshop which was very clean and an advert in itself. I know it's a different sort of market but the contrast was significant. Or perhaps, JLR don't feel they need to do that sort of thing.

At my dealership it was invitation only, each person had a time slot. My dealer was buzzing, they had 3 on test drives and 1 in the showroom. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Our 'regular' dealer, invited my wife and I to a 'special Evoque event' very recently - in what must presumably have been a very slack period after FL2, before DS and in the run up to Christmas. We weren't able to attend though.

Luxembourg 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Izmir Blue

Two weeks ago my dealer invited me to see the Disco Sport. They had the 2 models unveiled SE and HSE. I was there with my 3 kids between all those business people in their suits. (I still laugh at those looks: "Oh my god, 3 kids in a car terrible noise isn't it?") I told the dealer I will only buy one if I can put 3 child seats in the second row Smile As in my FL2 (2008).

I like it very much though I miss the typical ancient LR box design. Inside is plenty of room. But the 3rd row is useless to me. The kids won't see much and there's no room for luggage. But what I don't understand if I order the 7 seated version nearly all specific options are gone. If I order the 5 seats version all options are available.

What I like most?
+ plenty of room especially in the boot room
+ panoramic roof (my girls like it most)
+ many usb ports for all the iGadgets Smile
+ option to have a real spare wheel
+ can tow 2500 kg

I want to see it with the new Jaguar engine.

Unfortunately there was no possibility to test drive it. And it will be at the dealers (Luxembourg and Belgium) in January 2015. Hope to test drive it then.

Have happy festivities

But I also get updated on info every now and then. I am not 100% sure that JLR have decided the size of the production car.

From experience in dealing with the car industry and looking at the way the model line ups are created, I would be surprised if the baby Disco is bigger than a Freelander 1. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather.
