Bottom line is, the DS is better than the a Freelander in every way.

Quite a sweeping statement not having owned one yet. In your opinion maybe. Let's wait and see how it pans out, the Freelander is a very nice and capable motor. |

Caught site of one today but at a distance (couldn't catch it) was surprised how small it looked, at least from the rear.

Pishy space saver available only! Towbar you can have a detachable or fixed! IMAO you are better off with a fixed towbar unless you will be doing extemely heavy off roading constantly then detachable will be better to give you the normal rear departure angle! But good luck getting back home with the saver |

Maybe because of the rear seats. Space saver might not be great but I would rather that than the can of gunge! |

Today's Telegraph sort of panned it. At the price point the punters would like more comfort and/or bling. They have a point as for sure if I spunked £35 grand plus on a motor I sure as hell wouldn't take it onto terrain that tested its capabilities. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Down under we don't have much option of driving a new car on unsealed roads, which I did the first day.

I always wondered how people get on with a space saver when the car is full of people and luggage. I assume the full size with the puncture will not fit in the hole which houses the space saver. So what are you supposed to do with it. Call a recovery service? Seems very unsatisfactory and a backward step.

Back axle. If one has a puncture at the front. Put a back wheel to the front and then put the biscuit at the back. Unfortunately there will be 2 wheel changes. Unless its stated in other handbooks, nowhere does it state in my owner manual that a spacesaver has to go on a particular axle, only to ensure DSC is turned off and other than the latest Haldex I don't think the 4WD system will have changed in this new car other than cosmetic. |
