I had a 10 hole compression plate in the femur and a 16 hole plate in the tibia plus two screws holding bone grafts in position, 28 screws in all. More than in Wormwood Scrubs.

its sad that they do put arrows on the limb to be operated on, but quite essential in this day and age it seems

Looks a nice neat job. As Pegleg says, follow orders and you will be fine. 10 years ago, age 46, I fell off a skate board at 11pm. If I had had a bit more to drink I would have fallen more softly as it was the Doctor said it was the equivalent injury to falling out of a 4 storey window. 7 fractures to my hip which resulted in a foot long piece of metal on the outside of the femur and a bolt into the ball of the ball and socket joint. At least a dozen screws. Survived a week in Royal Sussex County without getting MRSA and my wife and brother sprang me on the next weekend and drove me home across the back seat. Anyway, 12 weeks off work and 6 months on crutches and loads of physio and all is remarkably well although I always know when it is about to rain as it gives me a bit of gip. I had all of the metal taken out 18 months later and all I was left with was a massive scar and an indentation where muscle is missing. I think it looks like a shark bite and is rather cool. The surgeon did a remarkable job and I can run on it without any problems and never stopped me doing anything I wanted to sports wise. My Audi TT had to go and have had autos ever since. Good luck with your rehab and take it easy and do your exercises!! Happy Christmas to you and everyone else on the forum. |

Ooocha, looked sare but thankfully you are on the mend. Not had to deal with a full stookie (touch wood) only ribs, fingers and nose (all of which are sare, but not requiring hospital/cast).

I wish you a speedy recovery. Interesting that some soldier ants in Africa are used in exactly the same way as your staples, once the ants bite into the skin the mechanism in the ant's jaw prevent it from letting go and they hold together with tremendous force for their size. The ant's body is then removed leaving the head and jaw locked in place holding the skin together. http://www.omgfacts.com/lists/7916/In-some...-up-wounds |

You'll be back on your feet in no time. I had an "incident" when a drunken Lithuanian lost control of his van spun across the road and took me and my cycling buddy into the bushes and ditch. Bikes were written off as the van ended up running across them. We were both extremely lucky not to have been killed but both of us have impressive war wounds
