Does not seem to be age related as all fl2s seem to suffer with this problem, guess its just if and when...

thanks both. My understanding was that the early cars (like mine) are more prone, although later cars also have problems but maybe less.

If your worried about it, put some money by each week in case it goes, if it doesn't then you got some additional savings! |

Mine had bearings replaced at 110,000 miles, cost was around £400 from memory, I used an independent Landrover specialist who had done 60 of the jobs I think he said

Mine has done 74k, had it about 3 months, HSE and without doubt it is the nicest car to drive I have ever owned and I look forward to going out in it whenever I have to go somewhere. It is definitely not going to be the most reliable car you could buy for the money, but it fitted exactly what I needed. The important thing is to enjoy driving it and not to worry about what is going to go wrong, if you are worried about that then you are better off getting something else. Personally I am going to deal with the issues if/when they come along and just concentrate on the feeling it gives me everythime I get in it and use it for what I need it for. I wish you all the luck with yours. |

ok, thanks for your comments. So reasonable mileages are at least possible beforehand. I guess it might also depend on usage, load, etc. Although as a predominantly FWD car its odd that the rear diff bearings go...not much load most of the time! Maybe cars where the 4wd is working a lot? cheers,Martin. |
