Something I forgot.
With plastic front wheel-arch liners off:
At the rear of the wheel-arch (nearest to the car's front door) ...
You'll find a piece of shaped foam rubber/plastic, which is removeable.
This is a closure for the cavity behind it.
The piece of foam is more or less protected from road dirt by the plastic wheel-arch liners.
However, some dirt does get blown on to the foam.
Leaves and grit can lodge at the bottom of the foam, where it sits in a kind of bracket.
On my car, the bottom part of the foam was dirty and damp.
Piled-up leaves and grit had started surface rust on the bottom bracket.
Pull out the foam.
Remove the first-section plastic trim, immediately behind the wheel-arch (it's obvious how to, when you see it).
Clean up, treat surface rust with a rust stabilizer, wax the bracket and wherever the foam will touch. The quick brown fox

After winding the side windows down, and with a folded cloth or similar, wipe along between the two rubber strips where the window glass disappears into. Its surprising how much mud/crud collects there.

This is best done when the weather is dry and with doors open as the crud may be wet and can get into the car when you pull the cloth along and out.

My son spends his time traveling around farms although I believe that he is considering growing crops in the footwell of his Freelander.
