Rolling with laughter ll those who haven't seen the race ...look away now

Great win though and all credit to Rosberg for putting up a fight, albeit a little contentious at times.

Well there was the comment in an interview, once Lewis was in front there was only the hope of a car failure, hastily corrected to unless Lewis had a car failure Very Happy my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Agreed that there is something wrong if someone who wins over 50% of the races in a season then doesn't go on to become champion....so credit where credit is due; well done Lewis.

Even if he is a thoroughly unlikeable little oik.

Formula 1 has had some weird scoring where the winner of most races has not won the WDC, up until this year since the last revision the winner of most races would have been champion, though the previous scoring didn't. it could have been won then with constant second places with various winners. Perhaps with todays technology and the penchant to have green races, perhaps the engines and fuel ( fuel amount limited) should be free and the aero ineffective over 100mph (160Kph) that would bring driver skill back to F1. Perhaps the front of the grid and results would then show the top drives, rather than the best car package. Having said that Hamilton would probably be fairly consistently at the top along with Alonso and Button, the others , who knows? Smile my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Yes - a few times.

However, never have we had a situation where a driver wins twice as many races as his nearest competitor (and over 50% of the races total) and not been champion - so Lewis is a worthy champion in that regard.

Still don't like him, though.

Frank Williams always had the view that it was fundamentally about the car and that's why he always got rid of drivers who became world champion, preferring to spend money on technology rather than inflated wages. Jenson Button only became champion when his car was clearly superior. Why did Vettel suddenly become an also ran? A good driver will get more out a car certainly (remember Ferrari saying that Eddie Irvive was usually positioned where they ought to be but Schumacher got a bit more out of the package) but fundamentally it's about the car's performance relative to the others.

Perhaps we need another series where all the drivers have the same car, that would show up a few interesting results.
