Wow. I bet that £100 charge for the hotel isn't worth the damage their pettiness has done for their reputation.

Unauthorised charge (as per what trading standards said), will see the money refunded to the couple by the card provider. Then, the provider will pursue the hotel for the money. The hotel will lose out in the end. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Have a look at the reviews for this hotel on Trip Advisor... out of nearly 260 reviews, 150 were 1 out 5. They are making a tidy amount by charging £100 for every bad review. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

They have lost out already as far more people know about their standards now through all this publicity than ever look at Trip Advisor! Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

They must be making a mint out of the bad reviews that are left, £100 per bad review, licence to print money.

The place is ranked 858th of 894 Blackpool B&Bs and they have more 'Terrible' reviews than all the others added together.

These people are lucky they don't hand out fines for being stupid, they'd be bankrupt. Rolling Eyes

There are 36 that are worse Shocked

And you wonder why some of us are "vanners" it's all our own equipment of which we are responsible for, it's just the location that changes.

Just been on the news- the hotel has refunded the money and has said it wont be issuing a charge for bad reviews again.

I think you will find that it's not that easy to walk away from your debts/commitments or everyone would be cutting up their credit cards. New cards are linked to the same account even if they have a different number and the T&Cs say that you are ultimately responsible so the onus is on you to prove that the charge is invalid/wrong etc. Then you have to spend hours on the phone talking to an Indian call centre.
