Land Rover Strike Action Looming

It brings back memories of Austin / Leyland from the seventies but 96% of Land Rover's union members have rejected LR's 14% pay rise over the next three years The union leader stating "we will be looking to ballot our members for industrial action across the company痴 five sites."

I'm sure there is more to the story than meets the eye but with LR building factories in China employees should be careful not to upset the apple-cart in the UK. I haven't had a payrise in over 9 years - wish someone would offer me 14% over 3 years!

I would agree 14% over 3 years is a fair pay increase nowadays.

It happens every year. London Transport are a prime example. Any excuse by the Left to cause misery and disruption. The days when a union worked for fairness are long gone....these hypocrites won't be satisfied until they have forced all businesses out of the uk, and have everyone living on welfare.

Scum, both Robinson and McCluskey. Shame on them both. Foraging near Gaydon....

The article that was in another post here said that although L/R are making 」10 million a day, they are proposing pension cuts for the workers. I think this is more to do with the action.

JLR are one of the VERY few employers that still offer a Final Salary Pension scheme.

The Company is responsible for the cost of the pension fund above the member contributions. So, with regular valuations, the Company pays in whatever is needed to top up the balance to cover the amount of guaranteed benefits. This can vary from time to time, depending on how well the investments are performing.

As their investments are doing so well, they don't need to top up as much, so are proposing to reduce the contributions. This has NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on the guaranteed benefits to the employee upon retirement, and as usual is just an excuse by Unite to cause aforementioned disruption. Foraging near Gaydon....

Then they wonder why investment and production goes abroad! Madness, especially when they work for a multinational company with facilities to switch production easily. Will they never learn? Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Excellent response, and not unexpected. So, here's over to you badger as I know you are a last word freak!
Answer in any way you want, call whoever you like scum and have a good rant in that Alf Garnet (without the humour) way in which you always do. I promise not to give a different opinion from yours again. Rolling Eyes
