Rear wiper "problem"

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? 11 reg facelift FL2. I have noticed that if the wipers are set to auto then front wipers come on when it is raining and that the rear wiper comes on too. OK so far perhaps? The thing is that the rear one doesn't stop, it keeps going every few seconds even if the front ones have been cancelled and put in manual. I have tried putting the wiper stalk in every position possible but the rear wiper keeps going every few seconds. However by chance I discovered that if I flick the front wipers once then it seems to cancel the rear one.
Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Mine's a 60 plate 2011 facelift XS, and I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have that feature.

The rear wiper comes on automatically when the front wipers are switched on and reverse is selected.
Bit of an odd one this for which I have no explanation.

Yes the rear wiper comes on every time you select reverse, and front wipers are selected. Why wouldn't they?
You are obviously looking out the back when reversing, you have selected wipers and there is no rain sensor in the back screen. Safety (& LR lawyers) say if in doubt play safe. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Yes, I know it's a deliberate feature Thumbs Up .
When I said 'bit of an odd one', I was referring to the O/P's problems Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
