Budget Boot Lights - Don't Laugh.....!

Evening all,

After reading the thread about wiring in additional 'interior' lamp units, I didn't like the idea/trust myself with the cutting out and wiring bit. I had a bit of a think and these caught my eye on the Screwfix website;

http://www.screwfix.com/p/ring-automotive-...250w/81624

Basically a little round 24 LED lamp unit @ 300 lumens (apparently) running on 3 x AAA batteries. So £10 later after buying some decent velcro, I'm actually quite impressed and it will solve the issue I have when kitting up at night! Its tidy, removable and for £10, might help someones winter!

Yes I know its a bit of a slap dash addition, but saves any cutting/wiring and literally costs you £10, I used velcro just so I could change the batteries easily when required. It clearly works, pretty tidy and will be more than adequate for me. I got a bit picture happy, hopefully someone finds it useful.

Pictures;

These are the little lamp units;

Velcro added using VHB tape (I did buy adhesive velcro but didnt trust that alone);

Couple of pads for sticking to the boot itself;

Lights fitted;

Night comparisons;

Yes, have a few of these around the house. They usually come with a magnetic adaptor, so if you can find a bit of steel they just stick on. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Hay this aint a bad idea but something that's wired in all the time hmm. you could be onto a new mod here Thumbs Up

You could wiring something from the fuse box in the back then have a switch on the rear pillar above the parcel shelf, so when you open the boot just flick the switch Idea

We have one of these lights with the magnet that sits on are bed post, really handy!

Someone has done it by wiring in low voltage lights from Ikea. Looks pretty good.

It's a good job they don't Shocked

I think they are banned now? I used to have a bottle of mercury, collected from the crevices of dental equipment, about 5lb in weight, fascinating stuff but not good for you.

Ahh good spot pab, that looks very tidy!

Just been down to my local B&M for some storage boxes and they have the full Rolson range of these lights, some with sensors and a 72 LED rectangular lamp which may have some potential to be hard wired in. 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

When I was an apprentice we ripped out the old mercury rectifiers, and played "marbles" with the mercury, The health and safety mob would string you up for letting apprentices play with it now. For once I agree with them. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
