I will hazard a guess at 4 degrees, I believe that's the temp at which the ice warning lamp can appear.

It will be left open, others may come along and have comments, it's rare that threads are locked on here Thumbs Up

It may well be that the 'trigger' temp is different?
I will keep an eye on the temps now, the last FL2 I had wasn't auotmatic.

I didn't know the screen came on automatically at low temperatures, something I didn't pick up from the manual or experience it last winter (a mild one as we know and my first with a FL with a heated front screen fitted).

As to testing it, when I had a new screen fitted recently, the technician showed me the heated part of the screen was working by showing me that it was warm to the touch on both sides (passenger/driver, as the screen is heated by two circuits in two halves across the screen) - and it was warm, something I tested later from cold and indeed within a couple of minutes the screen was nice and warm.

I shall keep an eye out for the screen working automatically and possibly at what temperature. I presume the little light on the climate control panel comes on when it does it by itself. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
