driven yet?

Wondering if anyone here has driven a pre-release DS yet, maybe at a preview event?

I know my local preferred dealer is not expecting any until December at the earliest. Rolling Eyes Life is not a dress rehearsal!

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

I wonder who would be brave enough to buy one of the first off the production line? Back in the 90's I had one of the first Citroen XMs as a company car, big high tec executive cruiser, years ahead of its time and car of the year. There were a few teething problems and I discovered that initially most of the dealerships didn't have clue how the thing worked. I hope that JLR has got it's act together, that sort of thing can do untold damage to a brand.

I've no problems taken a first build, I done it with the Evoque, never had any problems the odd creak but that's nothing unusual for LR no matter how far into the models lifespan.

Hop over to babyRR.com and you'll see LR are putting out worse built Evoques now than the first builds.

There is always an element of risk taking a new model, just aswell I have a good dealer Laughing 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Thx

Thx J77, interesting pics of the rear seating. Those child / teen seats really are rather small. Can't help thinking for many it may be more useful to have the space instead, and a deeper boot; oh, other EU markets can already! Wink

Any chance you can encourage your contact to describe his DS driving experience so far? Razz Life is not a dress rehearsal!

I would prefer the 5 seats also, giving you the space below, perhaps LR are just trying to appease a certain Sussex member, and it's not the above. Whistle

I had one of the first FR1s built - all I could afford after I gave up on my first (and almost my last) Disco. It was faultless over three years, drove it to Turkey and back, did a rescue on Dartmoor. It's all down to luck whether you get the teething troubles I suppose. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Hop over to Disco4.com

He's running around in an HSE manual, first impressions are good, the manual is nice and smooth. I'm hoping to get a good rumage around the car on Thursday.

I would also prefer the 5 seat option but I suppose the extra 2 seats may come in handy for something. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I have requested some dates and will put up some options when I get them for a factory tour to see the new car being built, they did stress to advise that the existing Freelander will not be in production and you will not see that being built.

I would be interested in this Taz. I was fortunate to go on a tour to see X-Type and FL2 production when I had my X-Type. I found it very interesting indeed. 2010MY 2.2 e4 (gone but, not forgotten)

Thanks for the pictures j77.

Looking at the pictures it seems that the second row of seats (the ones behind driver) don't fold down flat.

Can any one confirm - flat or angled when down?

Sure I read somewhere that the second row doesn't fold flat... According to the car builder, 3rd row is an option that also adds second row slide and recline so maybe in 5 seat config the second row will fold flat but not in seven seat config.

3rd row is not available with towing pack...

All very confusing.

second row seats fold flat Thumbs Up

The picture that shows the seat tilted forward is part of the access position (they also slide forward) for third row

To clarify what Natwest said. They fold flat, but not flush with the boot level. There is still a step there.
