Going back to the post from Iliacus about what consumes electricity in your absence, reminds me of a little device I was once given that tells you about the current a device draws when plugged into it (and the device into a socket). I went about testing things in standby or switched on. It also worked out the energy consumed over time, so it calculated how much a 40oC wash cost in the washing machine... pennies in reality which was good, but whether 'on' or 'off' it consumes 10W which is quite a lot when it is doing nothing We have no easy means of isolating it which is a shame, unless I go to the trouble of fitting an isolation switch above the worktop it is installed under.
We have 2 fish tanks, a pond with UV and filter running amongst many other things, so it wouldn't surprise me that we clock up a couple of kWh per day even when we are not at home. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
