The recognised way is by removing the off side wheel and inner wing, but it sems it could be done from below, not sure though with the under tray in place.

For the record it can't be done unless wheel removed! |

I noted that your crankshaft position sensor has been sorted, however I have previously posted on the CKP issue. The major issue is not dirt - but corrosion because the sensor is low, and for many exposed. I advise to clean the terminals with fine brushes (dental) and use a rust converter. When assembling, lubricate the pins with a "dielectric grease" that will protect the terminals and allow for current flow. Dielectric grease is produced by CRC - a USA manufacturer, and I note that Electrolube (highly conductive grease) is available in UK/Europe. Finally, bind and seal the connection with a good winding of insulation tape covering the CKP sensor, its plug and lead to add another layer of protection from water ingress.

Sensor or sensor connector? I believe it's connector. The original wire harness uses crappy Tyco connectors. My car stalled no less than 5 times in the middle of the road while trundling along. Usually during the warming up phase when there is more NVH, which I believe results in the "disconnect". Each time, I get a barrage of unrelated error messages on the dash. I replaced mine with proper AMP ones and problem gone for the past 4 months. |
