Has anybody with a TD4.e replaced their AGM battery? I'm looking at doing mine. Ive looked in the ebay manual I have and it says the Battery monitoring system requires resetting BUT if suitable diagnostic equipment is not available then the system will reset it self but might take 48 hours to do it.

That was my take on it, swap battery, reset windows and maybe clock. Just wondered if anyone else had changed an AGM battery without any issues. My Indy wanted to charge 30 quid to fit battery and reset the system and whilst I don't mind paying if it is needed, I would be anouyed if I paid extra and I didn't need the system reset. No issues on mine when I changed battery earlier in the year (MY2010). I don't think I did anything to the windows, just had to reset the clock. |

I've got a Ctek charger but it only charges the battery for about half an hour then says it's fully charged. I don't think you can recondition an AGM. I had the battery tested at a battery place and it was 60% charged. With the battery being over 4 years old I'm planning to change it. I didn't use my car for a couple of days this week and when I went to use it the engine was slower at cranking.

Should have worked, but if the battery is really gone, then it can't resurrect it.

This one will do an AGM battery, but shop around, prices vary from £59 to £99.

Hi Dorsetfreelander. Just a word of warning. The AGM batteries are fitted to stop-start models. You cannot interchange them with a normal battery, as the charging setup is different and would have to be reset by a dealer. This might be what the garage was thinking of when it wanted to charge for resetting. Note to everyone - keep an eye on Eurocarparts. They often have good deals on batteries. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone 300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease 200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France FR2 TD4 GS - Gone FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge. |

Well I've done an AGM recondition charge this morning in the warehouse at work. Took about 2.5 hours to do. After the charging was complete I tested the battery with a volt meter, it measured 12.9 volts. When I measured the voltage last week it was around 12.4

Well finally got round to fitting a new battery today. 15 minutes to swap to battery over, no real issues just found it awkward getting the battery out. Any how, the stop/start worked as soon as the car was warmed up, it hasn't worked for ages. So I take it from the LR manual that the BMS module has been re-calibrated.
