The key has been in the ignition for a long run to charge but still doesn't open the vehicle?

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like battery gone, but just to check - you are putting it into the docking station with the buttons facing upwards?...it doesn't charge if put in the other way up even though the car will still work.

If the battery is dead then your options are

1. brand new Land rover replacement and programme the new fob at a dealer... probably £130 or so for the key and another £50 to get it programmed.

2. Send it to a service that will replace the battery and put the fob into a new housing, such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390744873995?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT

3. Be brave and take it apart and replace the battery yourself. Many on the forum have done so if you search on here or look at a video someone has made on youtube
