Fair used price for iPhone 5?

My contract with O2 is up in November but I am considering early opt out in October which should cost around £55. I want the new iPhone 6 plus 64GB on a 24 month deal which will cost about £70 up front for the phone and about £45 per month unlimited calls and texts (will double check details.)

Been looking on ebay and the iPhone 5 16GB in white (locked to O2) tends to be listed between £170 and £300 with buy it now price. Mine is in good condition with a few scratches to be expected for a 2 year old phone but the screen is perfect. It has the box and charger, a leather case and an arm band for safe storage when jogging etc.

What do you guys reckon a reasonable asking price would be? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Thanks Thumbs Up Always tricky to know where to price it but I need to give myself room to negotiate. Defo want the 6 plus as opposed to the 6. I'm ready for a larger screen now. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I've got an iPhone 5, 32 Gb, no scratches and my daughter has beaten my son to bagsying it for free when my 6 comes. She's giving him her 4S to shut him up. She told him, "You snooze, you lose"! Laughing

I always buy mine outright through my company then it's unlocked in case I want to change networks. I have two sim only plans, one for me and one for the wife. We're not high users so 300 mins, 300 texts and 500 mb of data Is more than we can use and we pay just under £13 for the pair and then get a tenner off our home broadband package which is @£140 for a years line rental and then unlimited broadband plus unlimited anytime calls including mobiles is just......a fiver a month!

To be fair, I should add that my employer (public sector) has a contract with O2 and when I took out a new deal on the iPhone 5 in 2012, I got £120 credited to my account. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

£45/month over 24 months + £70 = £1150 Just to get a phone which runs the same apps? What is the point of upgrading to iphone6/ios 8? Keep your old phone and save yourself enough to run a Freelander.
I get by on my daughter's cast off iphone 3 and pay as you go, O2 keep showering me with special offers of "free" calls, data and texts too.

"What is the point of upgrading to iPhone 6/iOS 8" Could use that argument about anything really - why get those new shoes/new coat/new car/new house etc etc they all do mostly what the others do don't they? On that basis we'd all still be going round in model T Fords - they get you from A to B don't they? Anyway, I'd like to see the man that can run a Freelander on £45 a month - and that £45 a month he would be 'saving' only applies if he is spending £0 per month at the moment. Laughing

Thanks for the offer pb1008, I have already struck a deal with another member who sent me a PM earlier today. A slightly higher price has been agreed. Just waiting until 4th October now so that my next payment to O2 clears and brings down my early upgrade fee. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
