With the 6 year service coming up next year I was considering sourcing a set of braided brake hoses as an upgrade to OEM. On a previous car the improvement was significant, with a really solid feel to the pedal. Has anyone done this yet? Know of any reliable suppliers? So far, on line I have seen FL1 versions only.

Thanks for the suggestions. I took a look at the Demon Tweeks offer - £166.75 is more expensive than I expected - especially when FL1 sets are IRO £70! OEM rubber sets will be IRO £45 I guess.

If you do find braided hoses at a realistic price I would be very interested - her Ladyship's is fast approaching YrEnd5 and they do have a very beneficial impact on braking efficiency and feedback.

I would definitely be interested in SS lines.

Rimmer brothers have them for FL2

Also, would any of the more technical members know if the same hose is used on other vehicles or is it FL2 specific, many of the Ford sets are less expensive?

I wonder if its really necessary to change pipes as most vehicles never go off road and would have thought they would have been at least the quality of the average car hose which is never changed unless faulty for the life of the. Vehicle?

Hi 3D. It's not an off road issue. Of course, braided hoses would offer greater longevity in extreme conditions but their main feature is their improved resistance to expansion under pressure. IME, a change to braided hoses instantly gives a much more solid pedal with improved feel. OME rubber hoses, although internally reinforced, still expand somewhat in use. This expansion gives a softness to the pedal feel. There is a reason all aircraft (and race cars) have braided hoses, they make brakes more effective!

Hi Bob,no doubt the braided hoses would be better but if done on service in a LR dealer they would only replace like for like.
