Did this on my Fr1 - and then drove it to the top of a mountain pass where it refused to restart! LR recovery paid to tow it down the mountain (this was Switzerland) and the mechanic emptied the tank, charged me for disposal (fair enough), filled it with diesel and I never had a problem. FR2 may be different but I suspect if you can drain the tank (not as easy as no electric pump) you'll be OK. As stated above LR dealer will follow the full procedure. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

I wish I'd just called out the AA (even though I'd have had to join) as I'm sure they would have drained & flushed it through. From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos!

If you haven't turned anything on, the Miss Fuel guys normally undo the fuel pipe under the bonnet, attach another pipe to it which runs into a suitable receptacle, by pressurising the Fuel Tank.

Pay for the disposal, yeah right, they put it in the workshop heater.
I know of a company that runs three Miss Fuel devices, which they say is always busy and very rarely have to buy oil for the heater.

So, the insurance company's repairers took it in & called me for a bit more info (how, when, where & how far I drove it). They then called in a specialist. Drain, flush, refill..........and away she goes. Cost to me under £300! I haven't got her back yet as I'm having a new fuel filter fitted as a precaution but feeling a little better as you can probably imagine! Thumbs Up From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos!

Further to my post above.
I drove it home from the fuel station approx. 10 miles, left it overnight and then drove from Birkenhead to Westmorland Services on the M6 with no indication at all of any problems.
But after a visit to the ablutions for you know what, it reused to start and had to be recovered to Conwy which is perhaps why it cost £3.5k as detailed above.
