Unfortunately not possible to spec order the freelander anymore. The only thing dealers can amend on an order is external colour and internal colour trim. So I ended up getting one as close to what I wanted as possible from the dealer stock, which means I didn't get, heated steering wheel, full size spare or electric seats. Got all the other options though.

It's a very capable off roader! It's idiotic that JLR could not keep the option of a full size spare open at least to amed orders! LR will have thousands of them wheels stacked up! What if you split you side wall off-roading with the gel repair this.... NO! I've heard that emissions is the reason why none come with a spare wheels anymore and that ex Audi/BMW drivers are happy without a spare well good for them! LR should still have had the full size spare available as a NCO not charge is £185! How greedy can one get that they cannot at least give the customer ordering a brand new vehicle which will take the brunt of the depreciation the option of a spare wheel! Completely agree, why announce a run out range then stop taking customer specific orders within two months. I really want to retro fit the electric memory seats and xenon lights too. Never mind pick car up on 6th sep and have some big plans for modding it. Well once I sell my astra for funds that is.

I did look at the metropolis as it has everything I wanted but unfortunately it doesn't come in manual and I just don't like automatics and the manual has ever so slightly better mpg, along with cheaper price.

Don't know what the factory warranty is in the UK on a new FL2 but here it is 3yrs and 100,000kms.

If the DMF goes bang you are covered under that warranty. And the purchase price cost saving plus fuel and taxation savings provide fiscal comfort (vis-a-vié an automatic) if you are doing an average annual mileage. That's if you are a particularly cost conscious motorist looking at overall life cycle costs.

In reality there should be no manual / automatic debate - it should simply be down to which you personally prefer to drive.
