Yep just plug in when you need it, NAS drives are the same as backing up into the cloud but its on your home network so it equals faster read and write times I6 WITH GAS CONVERSION

NAS are meant to be kept plugged in, basically transfers to one drive, then copies it to next drive as a double backup, so safer, if one fails you just insert the new drive and it syncs up

Well, I've got the seagate drive all set up and have already done a full time machine backup Thumbs Up

I am now in the process of dumping all my photo's, movie's, documents and some applications onto it to free up some space and speed up the MacBook. All these transfers and the backup won't even touch the sides of the 2TB capacity.
