Am I being petty ? I'm thinking of taking off the roof bars and rear load space cover which I bought separately and selling them on eBay . I'm also thinking of keeping the "hook" from my detachable to bar , if the new owner wants the "hook" he can track me down and buy it from me .
As I said am I being petty but I was told by the salesman that all I'm getting fuel wise in the new car is £20.

if your selling the car and the documentation/description says that your car has, cover roof bars, or tow bar, i would remove them as they are not part of the sale agreement

Towbar, I would remove the complete unit inc electrics, not just the detachable neck Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Tbh I don't know what the sales agreement says + I can't be bothered going under the car to take the tow bar off (probably don't have the right tools either)

I'd leave them. It will make no difference to the salesman or dealership, but it will make a difference to the person who buys the car - particularly if he ends up with a detachable towing system with the detachable part missing!

I took my rubber mats out, they were a little worn on the drivers, they will be good if we venture off road, left the mudflaps on as I will get new ones.

I sold some parts off mine a few months back, dog guard, spoiler etc, was a pain in the arse packing the stuff and in reality, the roof bars will be a nightmare to ship, some carriers don't like the dimensions and the ones that do are the ones you wouldn't want to use.
I don't have a dog but the guard was excellent as it doubled the load space and kept it in the load space! You may find the Freelander a little tight coming from a galaxy, depending of course, on what you move around.

I strip everything I can resell
Why leave it on for a dealer who has just offered bottom book price and may well sell onto trade anyway
Parcel shelves, roof rails, side steps, mats, dog guard, aftermarket Bluetooth, tow bar = £500 extra when easily sold on eBay to spend on the new car or 6 tanks of diesel

If selling privately then leave them on, it will help the sale and you can haggle with the buyer over the end price
