I was told by a reliable source that production will be starting in next couple of months with dealerships expecting demonstrators mid January. In anticipation you can no longer customer spec a freelander 2 and the only things that can be changed on a factory build are interior colour and exterior colour. They seem to be getting ready early.

I've popped in past the dealers on way home to pick up a part for our 90! They told me that all FL2's have been built by LR and that none are available to order as such! That's what I was told last week when I placed my order, struggled to get the coloured & interior I wanted , privacy glass & spoiler , everything else the dealer can do

What spec and colour have you gone for ? My first car was and still is a FL1 I couldn't part with her my dynamic is my second vehicle! The FL2 is a cracking car

I have ordered a metropolis in Firenze with Ivory interior , picking up September first .

I seem to remember that LR shipped knocked down kits to India to an assembly plant in Pune. Will they now move the production tooling there and continue to build the Freelander 2 for that market?

Seems a little strange to suddenly go to the Disco Sport in what appears to be ahead of schedule, or are LR seeing so much interest that they feel it will be a winner with the existing drivetrain, I personally will wait and see, the new engine should be the way to go, with emissions becoming more of an issue. Sadly, if the model comes out priced right at the top end of the current scale, come the new engine prices may be put out of reach.
