I can't see much economic logic for buying a Disco Sport with the auto box and the old 2.2 engine - the mpg is just unacceptably poor for a modern car. So might be tempted by a manual - although don't like the squashed roof evident from the pre-release photos. What is it with JLR - are all their senior execs midgets? The XJ is crippled as a large executive saloon because of the squashed roof line - getting into the back seat is a real head banger. The Xf roof line is also a bit lower than I would like - senior company executives don't travel in the back of XFs of course. The Evoque is (to my eyes) just a Freely2 with a squashed roof. Maybe the eventual Defender replacement may retain the boxy look, I hope so. So if I was buying anytime soon one of the last of the Freely 2s would get my vote. This is a proper roofline for a proper Landrover...

I have ordered a metropolis , a couple if reasons are , I hope that most of the wee faults are ironed out .. The DS is going to have teething problems . The metropolis is a lot if car for the money (once trade in is taken into account) .. There is no way I could afford a DS with metropolis spec at launch . The FL2 will always be a sought after car , even more so if the DS is a let down. |

Having seen more material on the new DS, I'm beginning to warm to it... If there's a better engine down the line, I'd be tempted to hang on for that... ...

I think when it comes to changing the fl2 for me, I'll be going back to a range rover. The rr has a big feel to it which the fl2 just hasn't quite fulfilled for me. ( that being said, I do like it ) At this time I don't see the DS doing the same either.

Can definitely agree with the don't buy a new model sentiment until the problems have been sorted. My missus' 2006 FL1 TD4 has not had a single thing go wrong with it, unlike the RAV4 POS she had before it, and unlike my 2010 FL2, and hers has done 15,000 miles more ! FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green
