wow 12 months & zero problems

just returned from a holiday to the South of France with my FR2 that didn't break down !
In fact it hasn't missed a beat & not a single issue for 1 whole year !!!!! so they really can do it ! ( now due its first service )
I will actually go as far as to say it did very well indeed , excellent MPG I actually got 47.7 on a 200 mile run solo
& 24.4 towing so big improvement on the auto.

So I actually enjoyed the drive & the car and it was a pleasure to tow with so there we go I have now said it Jaguar x-type sport gone

Tempting fate, it will probably bite your Censored in the coming weeks. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

Enjoyed a trouble free holiday in France with ours too. However, mpg was around 32 due to the presence of a roof box (really wish the FL had a bigger boot!) Big Cry From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos!

oldgeezer, glad you are having a better feeling with your new car, you deserve it !!

how are you coping with the transition from auto to manual ? do you not miss the auto, especially when towing ?

Iain

Iain Thank you

"how are you coping with the transition from auto to manual ? do you not miss the auto, especially when towing ? "

Actually the only time I miss the auto is manoeuvring and steep hill starts. To be honest on the auto-route very little gear changing was required and towing at 75-80 mph enabled the outfit to stay in top gear even up the long inclines and sometimes put it in 5th gear just to allow 6th gear to cool off.

MPG was a massive improvement indeed and made a huge difference to the wallet and TBH the saving out weighs the benefit of the auto-box..
As an example my auto always devoured over 3/4 of a tank between the west country and the tunnel so £70+ was already gone before we reached France but this time £38 quid and half a tank .Only two additional fuel stops on the way to the Ardeche whereas before it was always 3-4 stops for fuel.
the auto was great but now I know more inside information about the auto-box I wouldn't use one for towing again.
the box is not designed for lifetime oil !
I am just really pleased that the new one made it there and back without a single glitch and no faults recorded in any modules at all whereas my old one would develop and record 50 -70 faults on a trip to france and every year it had 2-3 failures whilst on holiday.
So its official my old one that i bought brand-new was a piece of junk & Land-rover should of been ashamed of the car & the service I received over 4 years & I should never of tolerated all the issues !
lets hope the good service continues as in for first service next week and road tax due as well but happy with the £170. Thumbs Up Jaguar x-type sport gone

Glad you are happy with this one.

But to be fair, 'inside' info can paint a bad picture of auto and manual gearbox's. In fact someone somewhere will have had a fault with every time on every type of car going.

Personally after 6 years plus towing with a manual FL2, I'd never go back. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
