I put in a 4kW system in Feb 2012 (just in time to get the higher FIT rate) and added the Immersun in Oct 2012. So far it has generated just over 10k kWh with about 1750 kWh to the immersion.

So the outlay of just under £11k including the Immersun has paid me back £4.4k so far plus savings on oil and electric. The immesrion heater stays on all the time and the boiler is off from May to Sept. Even in winter it adds some heat to the water most days as it will run even if only a few watts are available. (We would save even more if we bathed more often).

Our roof faces 210 deg so is almost optimum. Just don't put the dishwasher or washing m/c on before 10AM. So definitely worth doing if you work to get the best from it. Capital outlay is now much lower so payback time even with a lower FIT rate should be similar. I am looking at payback in about 5 to 6 years hopefully. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

The company didn't bother turning up, rang them to confirm and was told their MD was going up the wall and called all the reps to the office so the 3pm appointments were cancelled,

Excellent I said my appointment was at 10am, guess his not come either,? there're cancelled too

Think I'll leave it, maybe in a few years air source heat pumps will have come down in price and I'll invest in them instead Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I paid 12.5k for 10 kw and am earning/saving £2600 pa.
But more over it helps to get the CO2 gestapo of my back for a while (commercial climate change levy and the necessary energy efficiency improvements).

I've an addictive app on my phone which connects to the panels via bluetooth and gives lots of pretty graphs and figures showing the outputs At work

I assume that yours is a commercial "CG Enterprises" installation funded from the business. As such I assume that the income is subject to CG tax

The monitor sounds interesting, I don't think it would be so easy with my Eversolar inverter. Some geek has come up with a way to do it though; https://code.google.com/p/eversolar-monitor/

yes Im subject to tax on fits but the expenditure was tax detectable too.

monitor is 'felix the solar cat' a cheap app but only works with SMA invertors.

I am considering a domestic 4kw solar but am unconvinced recent sizable drops in leccy prices muddy the waters.

A domestic rhi biomass boiler tempts me more but needs a heavy loan At work

It's a no brainier if you are on the higher tariff and pay for the system yourself.

But if any company saying there are free are basically renting your roof and if you have a leak you pay to get it all sorted, plus there loses.

We have a 2.8 Kw system (third year) returns approx £1100.00 a year and roughly £225.00 saving on the electric bill, but this saving is only in and using the power at the time your making it, IE cooking ,iron, washing etc on a lovely sunny day instead of having a beer in the garden.

thats the thing with poultry sheds sunny day = plenty of ventilation fans on in the sheds At work
