Recharging a key fob

Hi All
I have just got a freelander2 and when I picked it up I noticed that one of the fobs needed to be much closer than the other one to work. I was just told it needed to be used to charge it up. Fair enough.
I used it for the 45 min drive home but now it won't lock or unlock.
Is there a was I can sort this?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Daz

I had the same issue within 1st few days of buying my new to me motor, there was no way round it bar cutting the fob open (there is a how to do thread on here) and I had a replacement key fob/including coding supplied by the company from where I bought it.
